The completion of Phase One has set a strong foundation for further development. With improved sanitation, new learning materials, and strengthened partnerships, Wisdom Hub Nursery and Primary School now stands as a living example of what youth led, compassionate initiatives can achieve.
The Rotaract Club of Kigo7Lakes Golf has marked a significant achievement with the completion of Phase One of its Ubuntu: Compassion in Action Project at Wisdom Hub Nursery and Primary School in Katende, Mpigi District. This marks the first tangible step in a long-term commitment to improving learning conditions for children, particularly those with special needs.

Adopted in June 2025, Wisdom Hub is a school that supports both mainstream pupils and children with special needs. The Rotaract Club’s initial visit identified a pressing challenge of outdated washrooms that lacked proper sanitation and dignity for the learners.

Phase One therefore focused on improving the school’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities. The work included renovating and painting the washrooms, connecting toilets to running water, and installing cisterns, critical improvements that now make a significant difference in the daily lives of the pupils.
The project also extended beyond infrastructure. The club donated a variety of basic needs and learning materials, including clothes, storybooks, exercise books, mosquito nets, chalk, liquid soap, and buckets, among other essentials. These donations are already making a difference in ensuring a cleaner, safer, and more supportive learning environment for the pupils.

The commissioning event on October 4 brought together teachers, pupils, and community members in celebration. Pupils lined the school compound, singing and dancing in appreciation as Rotaractors handed over the completed facilities and supplies. The atmosphere was one of joy, hope, and renewed possibility.
Mr. Katongole, the Chairman of Katende Village, expressed deep gratitude to the Rotaract Club for their work.
“Thank you for thinking about our area and coming to make an impact here,” he said. “You have improved our children’s learning conditions and given them hope for a better future.”
The donations and improved facilities, he said, will not only make life easier for the pupils but also contribute to the wider community’s wellbeing.
For Headteacher Mr. Walusimbi Moses, the improvements represent a long-awaited step toward realizing his vision for Wisdom Hub.
“When I started Wisdom Hub, my goal was to create a place where children with special needs could learn side by side with others,” he said. “The Rotaract Club of Kigo Seven Lakes’ support is a sign that inclusive education is possible, even in rural areas.”
Mr. Moses explained that the upgraded washrooms and donated supplies will directly improve hygiene, reduce absenteeism, and enhance the learning experience for every pupil.
The Guest of Honour, Dr. Naboth, applauded the initiative and the maturity shown by the young leaders behind it.
“It’s inspiring to see young people so committed to inclusivity and community development,” he said. “What you have done here with the washrooms and essential supplies is leadership in action and the kind of service that leaves a legacy.”
Club President Louis Shamim described the partnership with Wisdom Hub as deeply personal and enduring.
“Wisdom Hub has become our second home,” she said. “We will be back for a follow-up visit and Phase Two not just to complete the work, but to build an even deeper relationship with the pupils and teachers.”
She emphasized that Phase One is the first step in a broader vision to make the Ubuntu Project a model for sustainable community impact.
