In a powerful demonstration of unity and service, the Rotaract Clubs of Kigo Seven Lakes Golf, Upper Kololo, and Victoria University joined hands to mark Child and Maternal Health Month with a vibrant and impactful Immunization and Blood Donation Drive in the heart of Katwe.
This joint initiative, proudly supported by Mengo Hospital Blood Bank, was rooted in the belief that community engagement is central to sustainable health outcomes. The event featured a comprehensive package of services including polio immunization, HIV testing, health education and sensitization, and blood donation, aimed at addressing pressing health challenges and reinforcing prevention in underserved communities.
The campaign carried a strong message of hope and urgency: "We want a Polio-Free World." As champions of the End Polio Now initiative, the partnering clubs emphasized that Child and Maternal Health is not just a theme — it is a commitment to safeguarding the future. This mission was echoed in every vial administered, every pint of blood donated, and every child immunized.
The community of Katwe responded with overwhelming support, showing that when people are mobilized with purpose, lasting impact is possible. Families, mothers, youth, and health professionals all came together, affirming their role in protecting the next generation.
“Our goal is to ensure that we are the generation that kicked polio out of the world,” said one of the event leaders. The collaboration not only provided essential services but also reignited a sense of shared responsibility in ending vaccine-preventable diseases.
This drive was a clear example of how partnerships between Rotaract clubs and health institutions can amplify impact. It reaffirmed the Rotary mission to Unite for Good, acting Together, One Act at a Time, and ensuring that no child is left behind in the fight against polio.
